What’s love got to do with it?

I once was a Christian, but no longer am. My life’s journey to find love could not be reconciled with 66 books that were decided by vote to be sacred by politicians and corrupt priests in 325 AD. As a Christian my heart poured out for those people who would be unfortunate enough to be born in Muslim or other non-Christian families/countries that statistically, in many demographics, 99+ percent would never convert. What kind of a God would condemn these people to eternal fire and pain and the damnation of hell for simply being born into that situation. Not any god that I am willing to claim. Since then I have found love, and I have found it without Christ. Please understand, I don’t mean to be condescending to your ability to have compassion. Though, I would be interested in understanding how you are able to reconcile love with your faith.

I respect your honest expressions of doubt, however I assure you that genuine “faith” is based on God, who “is love” and “gives love”. Beyond the confusion of “religion” and “religious hypocrisy”, there is the truth of God, as revealed in His Word, the Bible.

The Bible clearly teaches that while “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23), God is still “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (II Peter 3:9). Also, God has made a way of salvation in and through His Son, Jesus Christ (Isaiah 53:6 and John 3:16).

Those who spurn God’s love by refusing to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior will certainly be condemned (Psalm 9:17 and John 3:17-18). But, salvation is freely available to those who place their “faith” (or trust) in Christ, not in the “law” of some religion (Romans 3:21-22).

So, I encourage you to discover, maybe for the first time, what it really means to be a “Christian”. Not a “Christian” politically or nationally, but spiritually!

May God bless you as you honor the Bible as God’s Word and believe in Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world…and…your personal Savior. Notice Romans 10:9, “…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”.

May the Lord bless you as you place your faith in God’s Word to the point of placing your faith in the main message of the Bible, which is salvation through Jesus Christ (John 3:16).
