Why Do I Want To Be Baptized?

Why do I want to be baptized in water?
To please my church, my mother, my father?
To satisfy the edicts of a domination?
To go through the motions of religious tradition?
No! I want to be baptized in water today
To give glory to Him who is the Truth, the Way!
To identify with His Death, His Burial, His Risen Life
To see in Jesus salvation from eternal strife!
To declare to myself, to my world, to my Savior.
That I’ve decided to follow Jesus and live in His favor!
